Private AI
The AI you can tell anything.

Because there's no one on the other end.
Every other AI you type into is a conversation with a server. Your words leave your phone, travel across the network, and arrive at a computer someone else owns, where they can be logged, stored, or used for training. Loci doesn't work that way. The model runs on your phone, so the answer comes from the device in your hand. Nothing is sent, so there's nothing to intercept, log, or attach to your name.
Even incognito still leaves
Here's the part people miss. An incognito or private browser window only hides history from your own device. The request still goes out: through your internet provider, across the internet, to a server that receives exactly what you typed. Incognito hides the search from you, not from the network carrying it.
A Loci chat never makes that trip. There's no provider carrying your words, no server receiving them, no account they attach to. The model answers from what it learned in training and what you tell it in the chat, all on the phone. The safest data is the data that never moves.
What runs on the device
- Chat: understood and answered locally.
- Voice: processed on the phone, not streamed to a server.
- Photos: image understanding happens on-device.
- No account required for any of it.
The one time Loci reaches out
Loci has an optional web search. It's the single feature that uses the internet, and it only runs when you explicitly ask for it while online. Everything else stays local. We keep that line bright on purpose, so you always know when a request leaves and when it doesn't.
| What matters | Loci | Cloud AI |
|---|---|---|
| Where chat is processed | On your phone. Conversations don't leave the device. | Sent to remote servers to be answered. |
| Who's on the other end | No one. The model answers locally. | A provider that can log, store, or train on prompts. |
| Account | None required for local AI. | Usually tied to an account and an identity. |
Privacy questions
Does Loci send my chats to a server?
No. Local conversations are processed on your iPhone, so chat data isn't uploaded to a Loci server.
Can anyone read my conversations?
For local chat, there's no server receiving them, so there's nothing on the other end to read.
Do I need an account?
No account is required for local AI.
Is any feature online?
Only optional web search, and only when you ask while online. Chat stays local.
For sensitive questions
Keep the question on your device.
Use Loci for the things you'd rather not hand to a cloud account.
